SWG Remastered Professions

Built on the NGE-era system with a custom ruleset on top. Distinct combat professions, a player-driven economy, and a full space game running in parallel.

How the Profession System Works

SWG Remastered is built on the NGE-era codebase, which replaced the original Pre-CU skill-tree system with focused combat professions. Instead of 30-plus skill trees you can mix freely, the NGE system gives each combat role a distinct identity and ability set. You choose a primary combat profession and develop it through activity.

Crafting and support roles run alongside combat in their own track. Traders supply the gear, buildings, and consumables the server depends on. Entertainers and Medics fill support roles that combat characters cannot replace. The space game through Jump to Lightspeed is a full parallel system with its own pilot progression.

SWG Remastered layers its own tuning, balance changes, and activity-driven progression on top of the NGE base. The result is NGE-era SWG rebuilt on a 64-bit core with a custom ruleset shaping how everything develops.

Profession Categories

01 / Combat

Six distinct combat professions cover the direct-action roles. Jedi wield Force abilities and lightsabers. Bounty Hunters pursue targets and can hunt player Jedi. Commandos bring heavy weapons and explosives to the field. Officers lead squads with tactical buffs. Spies operate from stealth. Smugglers run contraband and slice through security.

02 / Crafting

Traders are the economic backbone of the server. Four specializations cover different production needs: Domestic Arts handles food and consumables, Engineering produces droids and devices, Munitions covers weapons and armor, and Structures builds the cities and infrastructure the server depends on. Without crafters the economy stops.

03 / Support

Medics treat wounds and keep groups operational in the field. Entertainers perform in cantinas to restore battle fatigue, a resource combat characters cannot regenerate on their own. Both roles are in constant demand from every player who fights.

04 / Pilot

Space combat runs through Jump to Lightspeed as a full parallel system to ground play. Choose a faction and fly for the Rebellion, the Empire, or as a freelance contractor. Ship classes range from light fighters to heavy gunships, each with a distinct role in fleet combat.

Common questions

Profession FAQ

What professions are in SWG Remastered?

SWG Remastered is built on the NGE-era codebase with a custom ruleset layered on top. Combat professions include Jedi, Bounty Hunter, Commando, Officer, Spy, and Smuggler. Traders handle crafting across four specializations. Medics and Entertainers fill support roles. Pilots fly the Jump to Lightspeed space game in separate faction tracks.

Can you be a Jedi in SWG Remastered?

Yes. Jedi is a playable combat profession in SWG Remastered, available as part of the NGE-era profession system. SWG Remastered has its own unlock and progression path for Jedi as part of its custom ruleset.

How is the NGE profession system different from Pre-CU?

Pre-CU SWG had 30+ skill trees you could mix freely, with a large pool of skill points to spread across them. The NGE replaced that with distinct combat professions, each with its own ability set. You choose a primary combat role rather than assembling a build from fragments. SWG Remastered builds on the NGE system with activity-driven progression and custom tuning on top.

Can you switch professions in SWG Remastered?

Yes. The NGE-era system allows switching between combat professions without permanently locking you in. SWG Remastered uses activity-driven progression, so what you do in the world drives how your character develops.

Do I need other players to enjoy SWG?

Many roles work well solo, but the game is built around interdependence. Traders craft the gear combat characters equip. Entertainers restore battle fatigue that combat cannot self-recover. Medics keep groups alive. The economy only functions because different players fill different roles.
